Nine years ago I became afflicted with a severe eye trouble as a result of overexertion. The physician gave me but little hope of recovery, and it became a question as to whether I would be able to continue my work as a music teacher. Cares were impending, and that not only so far as I was concerned.

I had heard of Christian Science several years before, and like many others had been astonished at its claims and derided it. However, I gave the subject closer attention as time went on, and through a friend became acquainted with many facts relative to this wonderful movement. In an hour of extreme suffering, while confined to a dark room for several weeks, I began to understand the meaning of the words: "Lift up your eyes." Desperate though I was, I soon experienced a wonderful sense of peace through the hope held out to me, and at length through the trust that God was able and willing to help, I applied to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, with the result that my eyes ceased to pain me, and were healed, so that I was able to lay aside my glasses. I can now see better with the naked eye than I could formerly with strong glasses. Many other ills, including a stomach trouble and hoarseness, disappeared along with the chief trouble or were healed with a few treatments.

Since then I have been a well and buoyant woman, thankful for the comfort and help derived through the right understanding of God, and grateful to the noble woman who has taught us that He is our helper today and at all times.—Helene Ganzel, Breslau, Germany.
