[Translated from the German.]

It was in the spring of 1908 that we first heard of Christian Science...

It was in the spring of 1908 that we first heard of Christian Science. My son-in-law was the first to ask for treatment, on account of a throat trouble and defective eyesight, and my husband and myself followed later on. My husband had been suffering for thirty years with weak eyes, and on that account was exempted from military service. The sight in his right eye was almost gone, and professors whom we consulted, as well as specialists, gave us no hope of recovery; so that we looked forward to a gloomy future. After the eighth treatment in Christian Science his eyesight returned, whereas the physician had told us that the trouble was incurable. He had stated that the sight did not extend beyond about three inches; but my husband can now see a distance of thirty-five yards. I myself had worn a truss for twenty-five years on account of a severe trouble, and had been under the care of several well-known physicians, which necessitated heavy expense. I do not believe I enjoyed health for three months in succession during thirty years; but after the third visit to the Christian Science practitioner I was freed of the terrible suffering, so that I laid off the truss, and have not worn it since. I have also been healed of a nervous trouble in Christian Science.

We thank God with all our hearts for His ever-present help, and we are equally grateful for the discovery of Christian Science and for the fact that through the application of its teachings the healing work of Christ Jesus is again made possible. We are grateful to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the understanding of the power of Truth which we have derived through the study of the Bible and of Der Herold der Christian Science.
