I had a long illness, was in bed, prostrated, for fifteen months...

I had a long illness, was in bed, prostrated, for fifteen months, was in a hospital five times, spent hundreds of dollars, and was left a physical wreck, a cripple, scarcely able to walk, and still a constant sufferer. Materia medica said it could do nothing more. I turned to Christian Science as a last resort, and at first was so filled with material beliefs that it was difficult to gain an understanding of spiritual realities, so I went back to materia medica. I continued, however, to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, also my study of the Lesson-Sermon. Then I went to another practitioner, receiving very little physical help; after four months' treatment, I worked alone for four months. I next went to one who said, "We will say nothing about time; we will work as long as it is necessary." At first there was very little change, and then one after the other the ailments began to drop away. I had worn a special "heel" in one shoe, and I took out two inches at one time. I had treatment just one year, and the physical help was as nothing compared to the spiritual understanding that came to me. I seemed to have been completely changed; some of the family say I am like a different person. Words cannot express my gratitude for the "contented mind," and with my study of Christian Science I find I have a continual feast.

I have had class instruction and I am very grateful for that opportunity. Our periodicals have been of great help to me in my passage from sense to Soul. So many times I have found just the help I seemed to need, in either the Journal, Sentinel, or Monitor. And now I trying to show my appreciation of all these blessings in loving obedience and in telling of all these blessings in loving obedience and in telling to others, who come to hear, this blessed truth that saves us from sin as well as from sickness.
