In looking over the Sentinel, I see many testimonies from the northern states and only a few from the South, but I want to let others know that Christian Science is doing good here too. Until September, 1909, I had never felt enough interest in this religion even to want to know what it taught. I did not concern me, I thought, so cared nothing about it; but I am thankful now that I was not prejudiced against it, for after having been bedridden for more than three months, I was willing to investigate it, especially after having received a message from a friend about what it had done for different ones of her family and could do for me.

In the mean time my medical doctors said I would have to be taken to a sanitarium for two operations, so all arrangements were made for this. All the last week I was in bed I was reading the Sentinel and praying God to direct me aright, believing that He would guide me in the way I should go. For some days I wavered between the two, but finally, when my husband was helping to carry me out to go to the train, an aunt who was with me said, "I don't want you to have an operation, but I certainly don't want you to take up that Christian Science." I replied, "Well, I am going to try it, and if God fails to heal me, the sanitarium is near by, and I can still go there."

I want to say, however, that God did not disappoint me, and I fully realized that if we "draw nigh to God," He will draw nigh to us, and that it is God who heals all our diseases. When I first got a glimpse of the real meaning of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I wanted to give a copy to every one I knew, little dreaming that a book which did so much for me and for thousands of others, a book that made the Bible so much dearer because it made it understandable, would be refused by some, no matter what their religious belief. I find that those who seem to need it worst are often the most antagonistic, and the best way is to wait until they are ready for it.
