My heart is full of gratitude for the many blessings I...

My heart is full of gratitude for the many blessings I have received through Christian Science. I seemed always to have known about it, as my grandmother was one of its earliest students and I received help through her understanding at different times, but was never brought to think seriously of it for myself until about six years ago. I was told by three different physicians that I could never be well without an operation,—what they termed a major operation,—and that it would mean a more or less lengthy hospital experience. My mother suggested to me that here was an occasion to try Christian Science again; and this I told my physician I was going to do. He said that it would be all right, because I would not be in condition to go to the hospital for a month anyway, and that during this time I might try it, but he would recommend that I continue to take a certain diet to get "built up."

I was confined to my bed when the Christian Science treatment was commenced, but the next day I was dressed and walked four blocks to the practitioner's house. From that time on I suffered no more pain or discomfort of any kind, so the healing must have been done at once. I continued treatment for about ten days, however, hardly believing that I could really be well again. After this I wanted to study for myself in earnest, and I can never cease to be thankful for my instruction. My babies have had so-called contagious diseases in appearance only, being covered with a rash but suffering no discomfort, and these ailments have not had to run the usual course allotted to them. The Bible is a new book to me. With Science and Health it is my dearest possession, and my hours for study are my greatest pleasure. I am deeply thankful to God, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for Science and Health, and for all our Science publications. I am also thankful for our healing and uplifting church services.
