In gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me, I herewith gladly testify to the following: For seventeen years I was a great sufferer with hemorrhoids, and during all these years was scarcely one day entirely free from pain; in fact, my suffering became almost unbearable. I tried various physicians and all sorts of remedies, and in the course of eleven years submitted to an operation twice. I had two good physicians at the time of the last operation in 1901, and I asked to be given chloroform, in order that a thorough operation might be performed which would really benefit me; but I was not helped permanently, and remained a sufferer, though I continued to try other physicians and took all kinds of medicine. At times I would experience some relief, but in July, 1904, my condition again became so serious that I was unable to leave my bed.

At that time I was somewhat acquainted with the teachings of Christian Science, and sent word to a practitioner who lived in our little town, asking for help She lovingly took up treatment, with the result that I was relieved of the awful pain immediately, and felt very much better within an hour. I need not say that both the practitioner and I praised God with a loud voice. I slept somewhat during the following night, although I had not been able to do so for two days and two nights. After treatment had been given for eleven days I felt that I could take up my daily work, to which I have attended ever since. I have learned enough of Christian Science during this time to be able to overcome with the truth any attacks of error which have presented themselves. I have employed neither physician nor medicine on any occasion since I found help in Christian Science, as divine help is sufficient unto all needs. God is good, and Christian Science leads us to God; and he who approaches God with the right understanding receives what his heart desireth.
