In November, 1906, I fell, striking heavily upon my right arm, which soon began to swell and become painful. I called upon a physician, who said the ligaments were severely injured. During the treatment which he recommended, the arm became much worse and the physician thought it doubtful if I would ever have the use of it again. Another physician suggested that I go to a hospital and have an operation performed. A surgeon suggested that I have the arm broken at the elbow; but none of them could assure me that either method would effect a cure.
I was very much disheartened, but my thought turned toward a gentleman who had spoken to me of Christian Science, and as I was wondering where I could find him I saw him coming down the street. I stopped him and asked if he thought Christian Science could do anything for my arm, and he said he thought that it could and advised my seeing a practitioner. I did so, and after the first treatment I had the most restful sleep I had known since my fall, some two months previously. Up to this time my arm had continued to grow more crooked and stiff, and had to be carried in a certain position in a sling. After treatment in Christian Science began the arm ceased to cause me pain, but it continued in about the same condition of stiffness; so that I became very much discouraged, because I was not immediately healed. I happened to mention this fact to a Christian Science friend, who advised me to see the practitioner at once and tell her my condition of thought. I did so, and from that time the arm commenced to heal, the ligaments to relax, and in a few weeks in had become perfectly normal. Today, after a lapse of nearly three years, this arm is even stronger than the other.
About two years ago, while out walking, I was struck with what was nearly total blindness in my right eye. This condition continued for about three weeks, during which time I was unable to distinguish and object with it; but, having been so wonderfully healed in Christian Science of my former trouble, I asked for help from the same source. Again I was under treatment about two weeks, during which time my sight was gradually restored to me, and I can now see almost as clearly with this eye as with the other. I have also been healed of bronchitis, and have had a demonstration for myself over acute lung trouble and lesser ills.
