THE TRUTH

For many centuries men have been seeking salvation from the misery caused by sin, sickness, poverty, and death. Some have turned to God for help, others have tried to solve the riddles of life by their own ability and power; all have sought health, peace, and happiness. But have these earnest endeavors brought mankind sensibly nearer to the kingdom of God, the realm of harmony?

Jesus Christ, who is revered by all Christian believers as the Saviour, said: "Seek, and ye shall find;" "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." That much seeking has been done, is evidenced by the many religions and sects in existence. Why then has not mankind come nearer to the truth which makes men free? Is it not a fact that many of our religious theories have led us away from spiritual freedom? And yet we have the Master's promise, and his mighty works in proof that the power of Truth does make free, even as he said,—free from the fetters of fear. free from sickness, want, and woe, free from sin, whose helpless prey men seem to be.

Jesus the Wayshower and Teacher "went about ... preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing all manner of disease among the people." It was not his own power that enabled him to do these works, for he said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise." He also declared that those who believed on him should do the same works that he did, and even "greater works."
