I wish to give heartfelt thanks for the help received through Christian Science. Before coming to it I often felt very weak physically and depressed mentally, and at times could hardly fulfil my duties. Sorrow and worry took hold of me more and more, and I often did not know which way to turn. Christian Science found me a woman who had lost faith in God and could not see why she should continue life's hard struggle, but the concept of God which I heard elucidated for the first time at a Wednesday evening meeting, gave me new strength and courage. I was able to see immediately that it is not God's will that we should suffer, but rather that it is our erroneous concept of being which is responsible for all our misery.
After I sought comfort in Christian Science my family underwent even heavier trials. Formerly such sorrow would almost have crushed me, but the slight understanding of the Bible which I had gained, and the study of Der Herold, were a source of constant strength and help and made me persevere. When I did not seem to be able to lift the burden myself. I always found a practitioner willing to assist me, and it was proven in every instance that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Christian Science has proved in our experience a most effectual help in cases of sickness, and I have often been able to help myself in cases of minor ailments, though twice I did not seem to be able to demonstrate the power of Truth.
In the summer of 1909 I was obliged for the first time to ask for treatment, on account of pain and weakness in the feet and legs. Help was given most willingly, and after a couple of days the discomfort with which I had been struggling in vain for six weeks had entirely disappeared. In February, 1910, I again had to ask for help, on account of weakness of the heart and difficulty in breathing, which for five weeks I had vainly tried to meet, and this trouble was overcome in a couple of days.
