It is with a heart full of gratitude that I offer my testimony in behalf of Christian Science, the potency of good and the all-power of God, divine Life, Truth, and Love. I had never been able to be religious, in the old sense of the term, but I found Christian Science so practical that it very soon became my daily helper, and since I have been a student of the Bible, together with our text-book, Science and Health, I have proved myself capable of accomplishing many things which heretofore would have seemed impossible. I wish to tell of some experiences which have come to me in the past three years. The demonstrations were clearcut, and being young in Science, they meant much to me.

When about eight years old I had an attack of measles, and every precaution was taken to prevent the much-dreaded "after effects;" but after I had been up for a week or more, I completely lost my voice. After three days I partially regained it, but it was very weak. My parents hoped that it would change at the age of fourteen or fifteen and become stronger, but instead it grew much worse at this time. The doctors all said my vocal cords were affected and that my voice would never be any different. The irritation in trying to talk kept up a constant inflammation of the throat, for which a physician treated me steadily at great expense. All through high school I was seldom able to recite orally, and when I went to a practitioner for help in Christian Science my pencil and paper pad become indispensable. By his help I was very soon able to speak, but my voice remained very weak. After about eleven months of treatment and study, something seemed to break and the register changed. Since then my voice has grown steadily stronger.

I have also found God to be the source of my supply and a very present help in time of need. Not long ago I was suddenly left with but four dollars in my possession, and no prospect of work. Having been all my life a student, I hardly knew how to seek employment; but I went to a Christian Science practitioner for help, and a way of financial betterment was speedily opened to me, and conditions have steadily improved. Through my understanding I have been enabled to rise above all sorts of temptations, and also to be happy in seemingly undesirable surroundings, by keeping close to Truth. For these and many other demonstrations I am most deeply grateful to God, and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the truth which has helped me so successfully over the seemingly hard places.
