It is with deep thankfulness that I add my testimony to many others, for I have had abundant proofs of God's healing power as taught in Christian Science, and my first experience with this healing truth was beautiful beyond words to express. After having suffered many things for a number of weeks, and medicine having proved of no avail, I at last decided to have Christian Science treatment.

Up to this time I had been afraid to read Science and Health, but now I was ready to read it, and asked for treatment. This was between four and five o'clock in the afternoon, and when the practitioner said that God is Love, and that He did not make me sick, it was the sweetest thing I had never heard, and a deep peace came over me, such as I had never known before. The supper that night was the first good meal I had eaten for days, and instead of going to sleep sick and discouraged, I was well! The next morning I awoke a new creature; it seemed as though everything was changed, and a sense of joy was with me that I had not known before. Not only was I healed of pain and suffering, but I had found the truth, the "pearl of great price."

This happy condition lasted for some time, then trials seemed to come, and I found that I must study the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and learn of the great Principle therein revealed that heals every ill. Not many months after this I had the privilege of proving that a little understanding, if faithfully used, will meet the need, even if it be great. One evening just at dusk, as I was leaving a house the surroundings of which were unfamiliar, I stumbled and fell heavily across the steps, striking my forehead on a sharp edge, and my neck received a severe wrench. I cried out, then I seemed to become unconscious, as the fear of death came upon me; but at that moment the thought came to me that I was God's child, and immediately I regained consciousness. I got up trembling, and did not go on the errand, but went back to the house, where I was invited to stay the night. After a while my forehead began to swell, and my friends wanted to send for a doctor; but I begged them to let me alone, and said that I would be all right. How glad I was when the time came to retire, so that I could be alone with God, for by this time my whole body was in pain. The spiritual interpretation of the Lord's Prayer as found in Science and Health (p. 16) had been committed to memory and this was the basis of my treatment. I repeated it many times and tried to realize somewhat of its meaning. About midnight I went to sleep, and when I awoke in the morning all the pain had left me except a little in my neck; but by declaring the truth this, too, yielded in a short time, although the swelling and very marked discoloration still remained. By faithful and persistent work, however, in a few days everything was entirely normal. This is only one of many proofs of the power of Truth which I have had. By my own understanding, with some help from a practitioner, I have been healed of many ills.
