THE LECTURES

William R. Rathvon delivered a lecture under the auspices of First Church of Christ, Scientist, San Diego, in the new church edifice, Thursday evening, Sept. 14, before an audience which filled the large auditorium to its utmost capacity. The lecturer was introduced by Courtland C. Manning of the local church, who said in part,—

It has often been said that the growth of Christian Science is remarkable. To those who are students of this Christ-truth, it would indeed be remarkable if Christian Science did not grow, for it offers only that which is good, and takes from us all that is bad. To suffering humanity it brings health and strength; to the home and fireside it brings contentment and happiness; and to the earnest seeker after truth it brings that "peace of God, which passeth all understanding."—San Diego Union.
