[Written for the Sentinel.]

"WE HAVE SEEN HIS STAR"

Does this same star today
Illume for thee life's way
With ever brightening ray?

Has light so touched thine eyes
That straight before thee lies
The gate of Paradise?

Has life become so sweet
That thou with unsoiled feet
Canst traverse e'en earth's street?

Has Truth unbarred its gate?
Dost thou, no longer late,
Upon its errands wait?

Does Love to thee unfold
Its treasures pure of gold,
To thee its secret told?

Then rise to greet the day
Now dawning on the way,
For Love with love must pay.

So shall thy sick be healed,
For Science thus revealed
Will its rich harvest yield.
