Mary Baker Eddy was a great woman

Rockford (Ill.) Republic

Mary Baker Eddy was a great woman. Living to a great age (she would have been ninety years old next July), she long outlived the ridicule her doctrines at first encountered, and she passed away the honored head of a great church, with a membership far up in the thousands, and churches of monumental architecture in many cities. There has been a growth of the religious body she founded seldom equaled in denominational history. It has attracted multitudes of believers, and they average high in character and intelligence. There must be something in the claims made for Christian Science, results accomplished by it for its professors, to attain for it the credence of the thousands, and probably millions, who secretly or openly are believers in the teachings of this wonderful woman.
