Mrs. Mary Baker Eddy was unquestionably one of the most remarkable women of her time. She must have possessed unusual qualities to inspire so large a body of followers as she controlled; she must have had a remarkable mind in order to formulate a new doctrine which should prove sufficiently powerful to cause Christian Science churches to be erected in practically every city in the United States. But we are quite sure that the great secret of Mrs. Eddy's success lay in the sanity and reasonableness of the doctrines she promulgated.
