I feel that I cannot let another week pass by without acknowledging with deep gratitude what Christian Science has done for me. It has been over twelve years since I was healed in this truth from a trouble with my eyes from which I had suffered ever since a very small child. I was forced, when a little girl, and also during the years I attended school, to be constantly taking treatment for my eyes, often using remedies several times during the day. In spite of the care taken, my eyes seemed to be growing weaker each year, the last oculist consulted, and who was considered very eminent in his profession, telling me that they could never be cured.

I was very much discouraged when Christian Science was suggested to me, but decided to give it a trial. I have often looked back to the talk which I had with the practitioner at the time of my first treatment, and to the first beautiful glimpse of the truth which I had that day. I had had a hunger for the truth ever since I was a small child,—at first an almost unconscious desire,—which afterward grew into a deep longing; therefore the words of the practitioner, giving me such a new and beautiful idea of the Father, who never sends any ill to His children, was as the first faint beams of spiritual light coming into my consciousness, filling me with happiness and a great desire to know more.

On the following day, when in a room bright with lights and heavy with the scent of flowers, an atmosphere which always caused more or less discomfort with my eyes, this glimpse of the truth enabled me to help myself. I thought of what had been told me, that the Father loves us too dearly to make us suffer, that He sends only good to His children, and that He is all-power. These few simple thoughts quieted me in a little while, and my eyes were less painful and less inflamed than they had ever been before under similar circumstances. Full of hope, I continued to take treatment, and in a short time was healed. Since that time I have used my eyes constantly and they have given me no trouble whatever. Besides being a student of Christian Science, I am also a student of art, therefore I am continually using my eyes. I am deeply grateful that with my healing came also the added privilege to follow a work which in its highest and noblest sense can unfold so much beauty and love. I thank the dear Father, and I also thank the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy that she was able to approach unto God and dwell in His courts, for by so doing she saw deep into the reality of God's creation,—the pure reality which is constantly being unfolded more and more clearly to all faithful followers of Christ, Truth.
