The Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,"...

The Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," has indeed been to me a key to the Bible; it has made the word of God practical in my every-day life. The better understanding of God which I have gained since I became a student of Christian Science, has been an ever-present help to me in times when dicord seemed to darken my path, and accidents have been shorn of their accompaniments of fear, pain, and discord, through this understanding of God as good and as omnipotent, ever-present Love.

At one time my little girl had a finger severely bruised, and for about fifteen minutes there seemed to be intense pain, but soon she lay sleeping on the couch. When she awoke all pain had disappeared, and the finger became normal in a short time. A grateful prayer that this Truth has come as a revelation to our age, to free all men from the bondage of fear and pain, brought harmony to our consciousness. Some time ago my little girl manifested all the symptoms of serious lung trouble, and during that day and the long night many were the fears that present I themselves, but they were put out by constantly holding in thought and repeating this verse from Isaiah, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." I had learned to trust in God by getting better acquainted with "our Father, which art in heaven" (in harmony), and my absolute faith in God was wonderfully rewarded when by the next morning every symptom of the disease had disappeared. I took the child to church with me (it being Sunday), and gave thanks that through the study of our text-book I had learned to trust God, whose promises are absolute and unfailing.

Recently another daughter was out roller-skating. When she came home she seemed to be in great pain, and said, "Mamma, I fell on my arm, while I was skating down a hill, and now I cannot move it." Through her understanding of Christian Science she was able to overcome almost all the pain, but there was a fear that her wrist might be seriously injured. I telephoned to a Christian Science practitioner for help, and soon after the child was able to move her arm a little. In about a week she could use it as well as the other. I had felt that I was willing to trust God in this case, knowing that, as the apostle tells us, He "is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think," and this speedy relief made me very grateful. I send this testimony with the hope that it may encourage some other mother to have faith in God.
