Brooklyn (N. Y.) Times

The Brooklyn Times holds no brief from Christian Science, nevertheless, it feels constrained to assert that Mr.—is not accomplishing by his attacks what he aims to accomplish. Unbridled abuse never yet crushed out a religious belief or opinion. The blood of the martyrs always was the seed of the church. Abuse and you strengthen; denounce and you fortify. The longer Christian churchmen denounce in this fashion the teachings of Mrs. Eddy, the more followers will she have.

It may be well to note the soft answer that the Christian Science publication committee will indite for the critic. It will as surely come as will the sun rise tomorrow morning. It will breathe a better spirit than do his utterances. It will be broader in scope and will exhibit no resentment—only compassion. Then if the critic is a brighter man than his sermon would indicate, he will see a great light.
