Five years ago I was searching for a remedy for a skin disease on my face. After I became discouraged in the use of the regular medical prescriptions, I resorted to other remedies, and when these failed I tried a French cure and facial massage, with and without electricity; then consulted still another physician. I gave him a thorough trial, as I had in all the above instances, but the disease withstood them all. It was indeed a discouraging trouble and one so glaringly in evidence that it was a constant source of embarrassment and torment.

My mother had been a Scientist since 1888, so that I had been associated with Christian Science nearly all my life. My father was not interested, however, and as a boy is proud to pattern after men, the very earnest efforts of my mother to show me the way were largely unheeded. When material remedies had failed, however, that inherent hope which springs eternal in the human breast, turned me to Christian Science as a last chance, and I then listened meekly to motherly advice. I worked for myself, with occasional assistance. The healing was not rapid, but was attended with steady improvement. I had been told by a skin specialist that the trouble would remain until I became thirty, and probably longer; but I am now only twenty-four, and have scarcely a trace of the affliction.

I find the study of Christian Science of perpetual benefit in every walk of life. It teaches me how to appreciate blessings; how to endure disappointments, difficulties, and discouragements until they are overcome; and, in great measure, how to understand God; I am therefore grateful for this available religion.
