THE LECTURES

Hon. Clarence A. Buskirk of St. Louis delivered a lecture to a large and attentive audience at the Majestic Theater Sunday afternoon, Jan. 17, under the auspices of First Church of Christ, Scientist, of this city. Judge Buskirk was introduced by the Hon. J. E. Williams, who spoke in part as follows:—

From the lips of one of the disciples himself we have the word that "God, who at sunday times and in divers manners spake in times past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son." Has the voice ceased to speak? Are there no new truths, or have we exhausted the old ones? these are questions of the most profound importance, and when one comes into our midst, no matter from whence, with a message of love, peace, and good will to men, of healing for the sick and relief for distress, to lift the burden from the hearts of any who are gloomy and despondent over this sin-cursed world,—it is not only with an attentive ear, but with a glad heart that we receive his message, happy to carry away with us any lesson of truth or of usefulness that will aid us in our own lives or in the manifold duties we owe to our fellows.—Arkansas Democrat.
