For a long time I have felt it my duty to express my gratitude for Christian Science and the many blessings it has brought to me and mine. Our beloved Leader tells us in the Manual that whenever God calls us to bear testimony to the power of Truth, or to defend the cause of Christ, we shall do it with love and without fear. I am indeed grateful for Christian Science, inasmuch as it has helped me in the overcoming of fear. Like many another, I did not turn to Christian Science for physical healing alone, but from a longing, earnest desire to know God, although since I began the study of Christian Science I have had many wonderful demonstrations over physical ills for myself and children.
One of the first cases of healing that came into my family was that of an eruptive disease of two years' standing, which was healed by Christian Science in four days, after three physicians had told me they could do nothing for the patient. A very bad case of eye trouble was healed in three days. My youngest child, a boy of three, was stricken with what seemed a very complicated case of bronchial trouble, besides a very aggravated form of a disease of childhood, and a rising in his head,—all at one time. I sent at once for a Christian Science practitioner, who before coming into Christian Science had been a practising physician for a number of years. It was several days before any noticeable change for the better took place, and many times I found it hard to overcome fear, but in less than three weeks the child was entirely well. These words from Science and Health (p. 248) stayed with me continually: "Immortal Mind feeds the body with supernal freshness and fairness, supplying it with beautiful images of thought and destroying the woes of sense which each day brings to a nearer tomb." My little daughter was also healed of severe headaches and stomach disorder with which she had been troubled since infancy.
I am also grateful for the Sentinel, which brings to us every week sweet messages of Truth and Love from all parts of the world. My heart is filled to overflowing with gratitude and love to God, and to our dearly beloved Leader, for the manifold blessings which have come to all of us through the revelation of this glorious truth to mankind.—Mrs. D. T. Barada, Boulder, Col.
