With thanksgiving do I testify to what Christian Science...
With thanksgiving do I testify to what Christian Science has done for me and mine. I wish to speak of one beautiful demonstration we had in our home. Our daughter, who was away at school, in February, 1908, slipped and fell on an icy sidewalk. She thought little of it at the time, but one morning, a few days later, she found that she was unable to go downstairs. The superintendent was sent for, and she in turn sent for the doctor who attended the pupils; he made an examination and said that there had been a serious injury. He insisted upon putting a plaster on her back, and also stated that she must be kept very quiet. She received every care and attention that could be given her, but grew steadily weaker and more nervous. She could neither sleep nor eat.
On March 24 we telephoned to know if our daughter was able to come home (the trip was about one hundred miles). The superintendent thought she would not be strong enough to do so, but I had some knowledge of Christian Science and at one declared the truth that God was her strength, and realized that she was able to come home; which she did, on the evening train. The next morning she telephoned to a practitioner, who told her to come to her at once for treatment. After she returned she ate a hearty meal, and from that time improved rapidly, until in about a week every symptom of the injury had disappeared and she was doing her share of the housework.
I am thankful to God, and to dear Mrs. Eddy for this healing truth which makes us free from sin, sickness, and error of every nature. I also wish to express my gratitude to the Publishing Society for the food which we daily and weekly receive through the Sentinel, Journal, and Quarterly, and now for that splendid paper, The Christian Science Monitor.—
