Last spring I was healed of what the doctors called an incurable disease. I had suffered for three years, and at times the pain seemed unbearable, but that was nothing compared to the thought that I was going to die, and did not know where I was going or what was before me. I had spent a great deal money in going from one doctor to another, only to hear the same verdict.
The testimony of a Christian Science friend made me decide to try this treatment, and I went to see a practitioner who had been recommended to me. She told me a great many good things, and I seemed to receive new life from the thought that "in him [God] we live, and move, and have our being." I had been in a depressed mental state for a long time, but on my way home the peace "which passeth all understanding" seemed to come to me. I was so happy! I kept on saying, God is good, and in a few more treatments all trace of this dreadful disease had disappeared. Before I took up Christian Science I had not been able to do my work, but the very next week we had to move, and I did all the work of packing and getting settled alone. I found that God is my strength.
My mother was very low at this time with chronic stomach trouble, and was opposed to Christian Science, but I knew that God would give me words to explain the truth to her. He did, and she was healed with a few absent treatments. My sister also was healed of the same trouble in a lighter form. My sister-in-law had had several attacks of appendicitis, and the doctor had said that one more attack would be fatal, but not long after this a message was received asking me to come to her. Instead of going myself, I sent to a Christian Science practitioner to help her, and two hours later she was asleep and free from all pain. The joy in that family can be imagined.
