As I read the testimonies which come to us weekly in...
As I read the testimonies which come to us weekly in the Sentinel, my thought is filled with gratitude to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has brought the understanding of this healing truth to all who will listen to the message. I think my interest was first awakened by hearing a relative, whom I was visiting, say that had he known a banquet to which he had accepted an invitation, was to occur on Wednesday evening, he would have refused, as he preferred to go to church. This was amazing to me, and although I did not at once begin the study of the Christian Science text-book, a few months later, when this same relative was a visitor in my home, I asked if he would sell me his book, as I did not wish to wait to send for a copy.
The Bible had been a sealed book to me, and I had never enjoyed church-going, but I am grateful that through the study of the Christian Science text-book the Bible is becoming a new book, and that the church services are a source of delight. I have been healed in Christian Science of excessive fear, and of catarrh, from which I had suffered since childhood, and I have learned that life is not merely a pastime but that each one has a work to do.
Frenella Barnhart, Independence, Ia.
