In grateful acknowledgment of benefits received in Christian Science, I wish to give my testimony, hoping it may be the means of helping others as I so often have been helped. My understanding of the truth taught by our dear Leader has helped and uplifted me many times in the darkest hours of physical and mental distresses. About five years ago I was suffering with a fever, uremic poisoning, and acute stomach trouble. For nearly two weeks I had been confined to my bed, suffering the most intense pain, and unable to sleep even with the use of material remedies. My physician said the medicines which I required were too strong for my constitution. One day, after I had taken an opiate, the physician and nurse worked over me for hours to save my life, for in five or ten minutes after taking the drug I became delirious and remained so for about seven hours. The medicine also seemed to affect the heart, and left me in a critical state.

Man's extremity is often God's opportunity, and it was at this time suggested by my husband that we try Christian Science. A practitioner was called, and after the second treatment I was relieved, so that I slept soundly, and a complete restoration to health followed the third day's treatment. I was able to eat anything I wished, which I would not have dared do while under medical treatment. Since then Christian Science has been our only physician, and through the understanding I have gained I have been able to heal myself of many physical ailments and also to help others. I have been enabled to overcome chronic colds and cough, also the wearing of glasses, which I had used since childhood, my eyes having been left very weak from temporary loss of sight, resulting from whooping-cough.

It is with a heart full of love to God, and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has worked untiringly for us and has shown us the way that we may help others, that I send this testimony. I also wish to express my gratitude for the Sentinel and Journal, as they have proved to me many times that God does prepare a table before me "in the presence of mine enemies." I am also very grateful for our daily paper, the Monitor. Christian Science has indeed been to me the pearl of great price.
