The great queens of the world were recently named in The Christian Science Monitor published in Boston. America has no queens to make account of, except as it is sometimes said that "every American woman is a queen in her own right." That many American women might be as worthy of the station of queens of history, is proved by the work that has been accomplished and the high recognition won by women among us who had not the prestige of royalty, nor armies and navies to carry out their will, nor court and courtiers to demand of them nobility and high deeds. Of course the great illustration of what woman single-handed and alone can accomplish is presented in the work of Mary Baker Eddy, the Founder of Christian Science. Today she is recognized as having done more to prove the practicability of the brotherhood of man than any other woman named in history.
