THE LECTURES

A packed house greeted Rev. Arthur R. Vosburgh of Rochester, N. Y., at the Grand Opera House last night [Nov. 2], to listen to his lecture, "The Idealism of Jesus." He was introduced by Miss Edna Earnest of this city, the Second Reader of the Christian Science church in Peoria, who said in part,—

Time was when Christian Science had few friends, when it suffered persecution from pulpit, press, and home. Nothing but its redemptive work, proving it to be the truth, could have brought it safely through the darkness of misunderstanding into the light of the broad-minded charity of the present. To-day Christian Science takes its rightful place as the healing and saving religion which mankind have always sought. It has won its way to respect and permanency by its fruits—the healing of sickness and sin. Thousands of sane and intelligent men and women witness to this healing.—Peoria Herald-Transcript.
