About four years ago I noticed that several warts had appeared upon my hands. These were thought little of at the time, although others suggested material remedies for their removal. Though I had not yet begun the study of our text-book, I was becoming interested in Christian Science, and did not resort to drugs or chemicals for the removal of the excrescences. When at length I turned earnestly to the investigation of Science, it was not for physical healing. I was hungering for the spiritual food it had to offer. In the blessed pages of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy I found the wonderful truth that fully satisfied me. With the light of the truth which was penetrating into my benighted consciousness I was enabled to conquer many false desires and ambitions, to eradicate errors that infested mortal mind, and to make several demonstrations over various acute physical disorders, but I did not yet realize the necessity for active work in destroying the parasitic growths upon my hands. In this period, when mental indolence assured me that a cursory treatment now and then was all that was needed to destroy so harmless, albeit unsightly, a manifestation, they multiplied. There were twenty-six upon one hand alone, and they appeared also upon my arms and dotted them to the elbows.

Having become somewhat sensitive concerning the condition, and finding my own fear-begotten efforts of no avail, I went to a practitioner. I had been speedily helped on previous occasions when it was necessary to call for aid, and I believed that this last difficulty would yield as easily; but although the dear lady labored faithfully for many weeks, and lurking errors in mortal mind were uncovered and destroyed, not the slightest change was discovered in the state of my hands and arms. Several months later another practitioner worked for me a long time, but with no outward result. I gained in spiritual understanding each day, however, and was able to overcome financial difficulties, fear, and worry. After witnessing the healing in Christian Science of a woman whom five physicians had failed to help, and beholding the disappearance of two alarming diseases before the declaration of truth, an added understanding and faith in the power of the word as spoken in Christian Science were given me.

At this time I was also awakened from a dream in which sense testimony had long held me, and made to see that selfishness and indifference largely permeated my thought. With this realization I turned humbly to my neglected duties. Although these were of so pressing a nature that they left me but little leisure, I yet found a few minutes each day in which to realize the truth concerning myself as God's child; that man is spiritual, not material, reflecting purity, sportlessness, and perfection; that "the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword,"—that it is indeed adequate to destroy in mortal mind all selfishness, hardness, and indifference, and in the mortal body all appearance of abnormal growth. The result of this realization of the truth was not long in coming. Almost immediately the manifestations began to disappear. For three weeks I spoke the word each day, and at the end of that time all the warts had disappeared. This occurred a little over a year ago. Since then the scars which indicated where they had been have nearly all faded out.
