In January, 1908, a family in an adjoining flat was quarantined on account of throat trouble, and as we were afraid for our two small children we went to visit relatives. After the quarantine was removed we returned, my husband bringing with him a copy of Science and Health which he had borrowed, and we both became interested in reading it. Another case of throat trouble developed in the building, and in a few days our baby, ten months old, became ill. We did not wish to use material remedies, and did not know that there was a Christian Scientist in the town, as we had lived here only a short time, so we read Science and Health ourselves one day and night. The second day the symptoms became so alarming that I telephoned to my husband, who then went in search of a practitioner. He learned where the Christian Science service was held, and a gentleman in the building gave him the address of a practitioner, who was soon found. Treatment was given the child at once, and the improvement was almost immediate. In two hours he was able to take the first nourishment since the attack; he slept soundly all night, and was entirely well in the morning. Since this experience Christian Science has been our only remedy for all discord. We are continuing the study of Science and Health with the Quarterly, and hope soon to unite with the church. We are attending the services and our oldest child goes to the Sunday School. Words are inadequate to express our gratitude to God; and to Mrs. Eddy for her unselfish devotion to mankind.
Mrs. Blanche Rydbeck, Independence, Mo.
