FROM OUR EXCHANGES

[Rev. George R. Lunn in The Christian Work and Evangelist.]

Real religion is eternally the same. It is no longer regarded as confined to an organization or a formal statement; it is rather an atmosphere in which the highest life for man can alone be lived. It is no longer identified with particular expressions or statements, it is no longer thought of as so technical and arbitrary that the common man cannot gain its message without the intermediary of experts. It is now in this age to our spiritual conception as pervasive as the sunlight which enters unbidden into every least bit of space that is open to its gracious presence. There is but one condition for its possibility to every man—the opening of his heart to the incoming of the divine. There is but one condition for its personal possession by every man— sensitiveness and responsiveness to the divine. "It employs organization ; it does not require it. It admits of statement, but lives without it. It welcomes the symbol, but refuses to be bound by the symbol. It tolerates the most splendid and gorgeous ritual, it thrives and blossoms in the loneliest hut on the shore of the most lonely and distant sea."

[Rev. Leighton Williams, D.D., in The Examiner.]
