To the testimonies of many others I wish to add my own thanks and appreciation for the benefits I have received since becoming interested in Christian Science, about a year ago. I thank God for our revered Leader, and her uplifting work, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Up to the time when I saw the truth, I was a constant and extravagant user of drugs, and had a potion for nearly all the ills that mortal mind is heir to. I had suffered from catarrhal trouble for twenty years, and bronchial trouble for the past five years. Up to the present winter I had not been free from a cold for five years, these colds lasting from early fall until late spring, and the bronchial trouble kept me disturbed most of the day and often during sleeping hours. My reading of Science and Health and the stimulating thought derived from it, has benefited me greatly, though I feel incompetent to express fully my thankfulness. I have given up all use of drugs, and feel the better for it.
In November and December, 1907, I had a great deal of dental work to be done, and one tooth particularly was very painful. The dentist treated it for about ten days, and then filled it. The next day after he filled the tooth it began to pain me, so much so that I was unable to sleep. I called on the dentist, and he again treated it for about ten days. All through that time I was in intense pain day and night, and upon my last visit I asked him to extract the tooth, which he did. When the tooth was out I learned the reason for all this distress, the case having been improperly treated. I was still in much pain, and the dentist advised a number of different remedies, as he had a great fear of the development of something serious. I, however, used none of the drugs prescribed, but left all to God. About three weeks after the tooth was extracted I removed a piece of the bone. I believed that God would heal me from the effects of the dentist's mistake, and He did, for which I am truly thankful. I shall always remember what Christian Science has done for me.—Philip Kolman, Chicago, III.
