With a grateful heart I exclaim with the psalmist, "O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever;" "Bless the Lord, ... and forget not all his benefits." Five years ago I was led to behold the love and mercy of God, and since then have striven to avail myself of the cleansing power of Truth as revealed in Christian Science. Delicate from childhood, I was battling constantly with lung and stomach trouble, and later with various ailments peculiar to my sex. I could never say I had good health. As one physician expressed it, I had not a "sound thread" in my system. During one of the attacks I was obliged to drive to town to dispose of our farm and dairy produce, and while delivering some at the house of a Christian Science practitioner my suffering was noticed, and here I heard for the first time of the healing power of Truth and was helped at once. This newfound friend loaned me a copy of Science and Health, which I subsequently bought and would not part with at any price. I came to town in the greatest agony, with a high fever, and returned home the same afternoon completely healed of both acute and chronic diseases. Words are inadequate to express my gratitude to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, our beloved Leader. I realize that with God's help my present health and conduct must prove to others the healing power of Christian Science. Through the earnest daily study of Science and Health, and my German Bible, I am now able to help myself and others. The Lesson-Sermons have been especially helpful to me in gaining a demonstrable understanding of Christian Science, though I have never attended a school where English was taught. I mention this to encourage others who wish to learn English with God's help, for with Him "all things are possible." The Sentinel is welcome guest each week, and a great help.
