I desire to give a testimony which I hope will encourage beginners in Christian Science. From early childhood I was very delicate, having all kinds of trouble, which kept me out of school a great part of the time. I was under the care of different doctors, and at this time we were living in the South. After coming West I seemed for a time to be benefited by the change, but in 1902 I had a very bad attack. It was pronounced by the doctor a dangerous condition of the stomach and throat, complicated with heart trouble. April, 1904, found me confined to my bed, and I was given up several times. Some Christian Science literature was then brought to me by a friend, but I would not accept it or even read it, as I did not see how it could cure physical diseases. I went on with the doctor, and continued to suffer a great deal, until at last the medicine seemed to aggravate the troubles, and I also became greatly reduced in flesh. Christian Science literature was again brought to me, and after reading it I became very much interested. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" seemed to bring me new life, and I wrote to a practitioner for absent treatment, as I was still suffering. The following night I awoke at half past eleven, and told my mother that I was hungry. I ate heartily, and then got up and walked about the room. I said to my mother, "I am well, and God has healed me!" Next morning I ate breakfast with the family. Although my healing was almost instantaneous, I had later some trouble for which the doctor said I must have an operation. This, however, yielded to Christian Science treatment in a short time.
I am very thankful for the spiritual uplifting, as well as for the physical healing. Words cannot express my gratitude to God, and to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the many blessings that I have received through Christian Science.—Julia Snell, Nampa, Idaho.
