I began the study of Christian Science for the sake of my young children. I wanted to keep them well and to keep them good, and my fears were many. The first marked demonstration was the healing of a badly sprained ankle in one night. My husband then said that Christian Science was the strongest medicine he had ever known. On several occasions—once with an eruptive fever, once with blood-poison, and once with an abnormal condition of the palate—the healing was delayed and we were tried, but a sudden return to health came at last. As a rule, one treatment has restored harmony, and many little ailments, including two cases of severe cough, have melted away before being recognized by more than one; but the protection afforded by Christian Science is what we are all most thankful for. Sickness, accidents, and other troubles have been forestalled by a conscious trust and by the prayer of Christian Science, when in seeming exposure or danger. Before coming into Christian Science I was not very strong and was sometimes sick; now I am strong and well, and although in the sixteen years two children have come to me, I have spent but one day in bed and have suffered very little pain. For such peace, health, and happiness, good works alone can express my gratitude to God and to all those who reflect Love. I am indeed thankful to live in an age when Truth is revealed through our dear Leader. Mrs. Eddy, whom we love, even though many of us have never seen her.—Alice Barton Jones, Denver, Col.
