My case of healing is somewhat exceptional, and I write of it hoping to benefit some who are hungering and thirsting for Truth, as I was, and to point them to the way by which I was led from darkness into the marvelous light of Christian Science. For many years I was afflicted with divers diseases, among them chronic stomach and throat trouble, etc. After exhausting the resources of allopathy and homeopathy, and being finally advised that a surgical operation was necessary, I was appalled and hopeless. I was also afflicted from birth with what was called constitutional near-sightedness. During a visit to Texas I heard of Christian Science from a lady who had been healed, but I returned home before investigating it. On returning to Memphis I learned there was a small band of Scientists here, and sought them out. Through them I heard of Science and Health, and bought the "little book" that has proven its power to offer the true healing for the nations. I read it faithfully—often all night, when my ailments made me wakeful. Soon error fled before the dawn of Truth; disease after disease disappeared; I laid aside both reading and distance glasses, and could sew and read, even at night. I can now walk any distance necessary for business or visiting, in fact I can say I am "every whit whole," and for thirteen years have had no return of any of the ills that then afflicted me. I have been a Reader in First Church of Christ, Scientist, here, and my eyes had to be in normal condition for this work. This blessed condition is wholly due to Christian Science, and was gained from reading our text-book, unaided by any one, and my own application of the truth therein taught. This may encourage those who are in bondage to fear to read this book and to apply for themselves the truth that makes free.
