"BECAUSE I GO UNTO MY FATHER."

The resurrection of Jesus, together with his subsequent victory over all the claims of the flesh, was followed by a great awakening among his followers. They were aroused to a higher sense of the Divine power, which enabled them to work signs and wonders, and this in fulfilment of their Master's promise. "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also." He also said that his disciples were to do "greater works;" but we may ask, When and where have these greater works been done, or even works so great? It remains for Christian Science to answer this question, as well as the answer implied in the words, "Because I go unto my Father."

For three hundred years the pure gospel of Christ which healed the sick, raised the dead, and cast out demons was preached,—a gospel which recognized God, Spirit, as the universal Father and man as His eternal offspring. When the "I," through evil's deception, was to human sense buried again in materiality, and man's true relationship to God lost sight of, the unfoldment of heaven, harmony, as a result of spiritual growth, was arrested, and Christendom lapsed into the very tomb of materialism, out of which it was its Founder's mission to awaken mankind. He said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
