I desire to express my gratitude to the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy, for the great blessing that are now mine to enjoy through restoration to health from what seemed the brink of the grave. More than once have I been overcome by weakness and had to be conveyed to my home. I then had no knowledge of Christian Science, except having heard it mentioned by some one who ridiculed I had tried everything medicine, manipulation, climate, etc., but was all the time growing worse. While in this condition I happened to attend a lecture on the subject of Christian Science. I was seated near enough to hear and see plainly when the lecturer was introduced, but shortly after he began to speak I had a very violent attack of my old enemy, and almost lost consciousness. I wanted to leave the hall, but knew that if I attempted to rise I would fall, so I resolved to remain and die right there rather than make a scene; but in a comparatively short time I began to hear and see more distinctly, and the pain and fear became less and less, until before the lecture was over I was perfectly normal. I have never had another attack of that trouble, and have since received blessings in health and protection which I am now aware are the result of the understanding of Truth as revealed in Christian Science. For this I shall be ever grateful. The incident above referred to took place in Quincy, Ill., seven years ago, and since that time I have been the recipient of blessings, both spiritual and physical, which I know could have come from no other source than Christian Science.

As a young man of nineteen I became an inveterate user of tobacco. The habit had grown on me to such an extent that for eighteen or twenty years I used it almost continually, night and day. I took a number of different tobacco cures, but without the desired good results. Soon after this I lost my health,—was afficted as I have already stated. After I turned to Christian Science and was restored to health. I wanted to quit tobacco and had two weeks' treatment, but gave up and continued to use it. Later I again requested treatment for the tobacco habit, and after a few weeks the practitioner told me that in his opinion there was some in which stood in the way and which must first be removed. This was said in a brotherly manner, and I now feel grateful for it. I was at that time enjoying the bliss of new-found health, but had a very faint idea of spiritual things. It was about eighteen months after this when the thought dawned upon me that I needed help to overcome the belief of sin. I asked for treatment, and a complete cure of the tobacco habit followed in a few weeks. From that time to this, nearly three years, I have had no desire for tobacco. Christian Science does heal the sick and reform the sinner, and I am grateful for the blessings which have come to me.—Tere A. Clark, Quincy, Ill.
