When I first heard of Christian Science I had for years...
When I first heard of Christian Science I had for years been a great sufferer from stomach and liver trouble, also lung trouble. From early boyhood I had been subject to frequent bilious attacks, and was troubled a great deal during the winter months with my lungs and throat. A few years before I heard of Christian Science, a prominent physician told me that my lungs were in a very bad condition and advised a change of climate. He said it was doubtful whether I would live a year if I remained here. After spending about a year in the open air, a part of the time under a doctor's care, I seemed to be somewhat improved, and later returned to my old position in a large mercantile establishment, but did not seem to improve any further. I finally seemed to be slowly failing, until I had lost all faith in doctors and drugs.
I was at last persuaded by a dear friend to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. During one my attacks I took two or three treatments from this friend, which put me on my feet again; and finally, through the faithful study of Science and Health, I was entirely healed of all my ailments. I have not taken any medicine since my first treatment, and during the past eight years have not lost a day from business on account of sickness. Five years of this time I spent on the road as a traveling salesman with very heavy work. My territory being in northern Iowa, I often had to make long drives in all kinds of weather, but I never experienced any bad effects from exposure to storm or cold.
We have two children, nine and seven years of age, and have been able to prove beyond beyond a doubt the efficacy of Christian Science in protecting them from the many diseases which children are usually subject to.
