I feel it a privilege, as well as a duty, to contribute my heartfelt thanks for Christian Science, and for what it has done for me. About ten years ago I was an invalid. I had been under the doctor's care for three years, suffering with stomach and liver trouble, also from a displacement for which I was obliged to wear an internal supporter. As I did not improve, but rather grew worse, the doctor advised a surgical operation. As soon as I was strong enough I went through with the operation, expecting to be well and strong again, but was disappointed to find myself in a short time as badly off as before. I could not eat anything without its causing great distress and nervousness. My doctor then told me that told me that in order to be well I would have to go to the hospital and experience the same treatment again.
While waiting to decide what would be best for me to do, I was advised to try Christian Science by one who was then under treatment. I had no faith in it, or in anything else, but decided I would try it. I was healed in a short time of the stomach and liver trouble, being able to eat anything and everything I wanted, and have remained so ever since. The other trouble did not seem to yield as readily, owing to the unwillingness on my part to give up the supporter. I felt that it would be impossible for me to go without it, as I had tried it many times, while under the doctor's care, and had to have it replaced, on account of the severe pain. When I felt ready and willing to leave the old way for the new, the healing commenced. It was slow, but I gradually grew stronger, and the suffering less, until I was healed. I have been able to do all my housework, washing and ironing included, sometimes being on my feet nearly all day.
I wish also to say that there has not been a drop of medicine used in my family for the last eight years. I wish to express my appreciation for all the Christian Science literature. It has afforded me comfort and joy. To our dear Leader, who is bearing the truth to a needy world, I would express my deep gratitude.
