A few weeks ago, while on my way to our Reading Room,...
A few weeks ago, while on my way to our Reading Room, I was thrown out of a light wagon, striking heavily on my wrist. As the wagon was broken, I was compelled to walk quite a distance, but I received treatment at the Reading Room and the pain was immediately relieved. A trained nurse who was in the same house with me advised the use of warm water to remove the discoloration, but I declined, and did my housework without much trouble for two weeks, although the wrist was quite stiff. At that time, as I was preparing for church, the wrist bones snapped into place and I was entirely free. The nurse would not believe it until I allowed her to examine it. She found it in place and then said that in addition to the dislocation one of the bones had been cracked, and that she had wanted to put the bones in place at first,—but knowing I was under Christian Science treatment, had not done so. When a young girl I had a similar injury, and under a physician's care the arm was bandaged and in a sling for six weeks and I suffered considerable pain. In the present case, under Christian Science, I had no pain after the first treatment.
I am grateful to God, and to our Leader for this healing truth.—MRS. LULU MORSE, Oneonta, N. Y.
Nine years ago my four-year-old boy was taken with a severe cough, which gradually grew worse to the point of threatened strangulation. He had been a strong, healthy child, but six months of distress and coughing had reduced him to a mere skeleton. He continued to grow worse, until my wife and I took turns at night holding him in our arms in an upright position that he might breathe. We employed four of the local physicians on his case; each gave him medicines, but differed as to the nature of the trouble. Finally we saw that something had to be done speedily for his relief. Christian Science as a healing agency had been brought to our attention, and as material means had failed to give our child relief, we decided to give it a trial. I wrote to a practitioner, describing the case and asking for treatment. A slight improvement was noticed during the next two days, and on the next evening my wife and I were out. To our surprise, on returning home, we found the child heartily enjoying a game with the other children. On Friday morning he had a severe coughing spell and coughed up something white and hard, which upon examination proved to be a tooth. Six months prior to this time the boy had been taken to a dentist, and while under the influence of ether he had two teeth extracted. His mother had asked the dentist for them, but he could find only one. The other had lodged in the lungs, though this was not suspected at the time. After the tooth had been coughed up the boy found immediate relief, and soon regained his normal strength and health. Six months of medical care and attention had given but little relief; while he was entirely relieved with one week's treatment in Christian Science.
