[Written for the Sentinel.]

"Father, I thank thee."

"FATHER, I thank Thee." Many children say
These joyous, grateful words at morning's call;
And, by the tender mercies over all
The work God gives His loved ones, day by day,
They know He richly blesses them that pray.
"Father, I thank Thee."

"Father, I thank Thee," Just this grateful word
Fed weary multitudes, and raised the dead.
Our Master lived his thanks, and broke Life's bread
To hungry hearts. Yea, Love has ever heard,
And hears to-day, this prayer on land and sea:
"Father, I thank Thee."
