While Christian Science disagrees with some theories in respect to the nature of disease and sin, it recognizes that these exist in erring, mortal experience and must be dealt with and overcome according to God's laws. We think our critic will agree that when disease disappears it vanishes into nothingness; that it is not still hovering about, but has actually gone to nothingness. We believe he will also agree that something cannot be reduced to nothing; hence the disease must have been a nonentity to begin with.

Christian Science does not teach that disease does not appear to be real to the erroneous concept of man, but asserts that in the sight of God it has no weight whatever, no real entity. Christian Science does not teach that it is possible to be rid of pain simply by asserting that it is unreal, or that one can wilfully venture into trouble and escape its effects. One must be sufficiently conscious of the divine presence to be lifted above fear of disease in order to be absolutely safe.
