About fourteen years ago I was healed without treatment by studying the Christian Science Bible Lessons. My case was diagnosed by our family physician as spinal disease and stomach trouble. I had suffered from headache since childhood. and it had grown to be constant. I was examined by another physician. who said my heart was affected; and by a third, who said my right lung was affected. I was under the care of only two of these, but my back grew weaker and more painful as well. Becoming discouraged and too weak to work, upon the suggestion of a friend I went to a kind of mental healer, who treated me several weeks, and I was relieved somewhat, for a short time, from the terrible pain in my back. Later I saw a copy of Science and Health, but was not allowed to read it, although extracts were read to me frequently. I expressed a desire to own a copy. but was dissuaded from so doing. I came home apparently cured, but I had not read Science and Health.

About four years after this I was dismayed to find the old troubles returning. For a year I fought against them, but grew worse continually and became thoroughly discouraged. About this time a friend who had heard a little about Christian Science frequently mentioned the subject to me, but I would not listen without antagonizing every statement until something arrested my attention from a theological point of view, and I said I would go with her to Boston to make inquiries. I knew of no Christian Scientists nearer. I was taken to a loyal student of Mrs. Eddy and I shall never cease to be grateful for the loving kindness with which he answered my questions. I bought a copy of Science and Health and a Christian Science Quarterly, and began the study of the lessons, often studying late into the night. So absorbed was I in the study. which was a revelation to me, and so quietly did the truth do its work, that I did not realize what was taking place till about three months later I noticed that I could walk a long distance, or use my arms, without having the pain in my back. Very soon all the troubles left me and there has been no return of any of them since. It was some time before I realized that I was really healed. for I had not then heard of any one being healed without treatment. Since then I have had many beautiful proofs of the power of the truth.

God bless our Leader. Mrs. Eddy, who was willing to endure that mankind might have "key" whereby the Word that heals may be understood and made practical. For all these blessings I render to God my heartfelt gratitude.
