My heart is filled with gratitude to God, and to Mrs. Eddy,...

My heart is filled with gratitude to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, for all the blessings I have received through Christian Science. It is now about eighteen months since I became interested and began to investigate its teachings. I had been for years a firm advocate of infidelity, giving but little thought, if any, to Christianity, but now I have quite a different concept of the Bible and religion. This change came about as a result of very close and unprejudiced study of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, from which I learned that I was laboring under a very wrong impression, and finally concluded that I was not on the right road. The change of thought was not, however, accomplished without a struggle. The time had come for me to resign myself to the truth, as truth alone would set me free, and I was thus prepared to receive the blessing revealed in the Bible and in Science and Health.

I am very grateful for an uplifting out of darkness into light, out of discord into harmony, and for learning of an all-loving and omnipotent God, who is a very present help in trouble. Christian Science teaches us that we may reach heaven here on earth, and a Christian Scientist proves his theory in his daily experience of immunity from suffering, thus establishing the verity of Jesus' statement, "The kingdom of God is within you."

I have a dear sister and her daughter who are entitled to my deepest gratitude, as they were the primary cause of my taking the first step in Christian Science. In our correspondence they sought occasion always to mention something in regard to Christian Science, in order that I might become interested. Their earnest solicitations at first were ignored, but by their untiring persistence they succeeded at length in placing in my hands "the rope that lifts us out of the pit." Even in my short experience with Christian Science, I have had many demonstrations to prove to me the omnipotence of God and the potency of the truth, inspiring a trust in the ability of Christian Science to lift me out of evil into good, out of materiality into spirituality. I have become a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, in this city, and shall endeavor to be faithful and worthy.
