I became actively interested in Christian Science about nine years ago, through the healing of a sister. This sister had five children, and prior to the time of her healing there were few days in the year when the family physician was not a visitor in that home. After she took up the study and practice of Christian Science she attended to the needs of the family, physical as well as spiritual, and this was such a great change that it awakened my interest. I thought if she could care for her children without the help of a physician there was no reason why I could not also. This was my only thought in connection with Christian Science, but I had not been trying to help myself and baby long before I realized that I needed it morally and spiritually—that to receive the benefit of Christian Science one must purify thought and action.

While the spiritual growth has seemed slow, yet the daily light has always been equal to the daily needs. In the nine years that we have tried to live this truth, there have been many times when the little one has said, "My throat is sore," or "I feel sick;" but with the understanding of the power and presence of good that Science and Health gives us, we have always been able to overcome the discord in a few minutes or a few hours—the sickness never developing into anything serious or protracted. I had grown away from all interest in the Bible or the church, but the light that Science and Health has given me has made the Bible a new book. It has also awakened a love for all mankind, and is enabling me to forget the things that are behind and to "press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
