A few years ago I was very ill with appendicitis, and the best care under the constant supervision of the physician brought no change for the better. One evening, when according to the physician's verdict I had but a few hours to live, and relief through an operation was doubtful on account of lack of strength, we called, with the knowledge of the physician, for Christian Science. A practitioner through whom many had been saved, was telegraphed for, and came by the next train.
The disciple of medicine and the disciple of Christian Science met at my bedside. The doctor asked that, as a friend of the family, he might be permitted to call the next day to convince himself of my condition. He came, and at every repeated visit he was more and more astonished to see how quickly I recovered. I am healed, and I now understand the word healed as meaning sanctified, made better, wiser; clad with the armor of salvation.
I rejoice that now I myself may be an instrument of good, I may preach the gospel, and heal the sick, obedience to Jesus' command. I am a member of the Christian Science church in Denver, Col., and above all an ever-grateful follower of our revered Leader, who has illumined anew the path that Jesus pointed out to us.
