I suffered for years with dropsy caused from valvular heart trouble. I had consulted a number of physicians and they agreed as to the nature of the disease. I was under the treatment of three of the best that I was able to employ in this locality, and all said there was nothing that would cure me. I also took treatment from a specialist for eight months. This treatment was very severe,—the water would be drawn off, but would come again. I became so weakened that I was forced to discontinue this treatment, as there was not a day passed in which I had not one or more fainting spells. At one time I was unconscious for quite a length of time and cold for two hours. The physicians thought I might be somewhat relieved by living on a level with the sea, so we sold our home in Boise, Idaho, and went to Portland, Ore., and from there to the coast. I remained at the coast one summer and then returned to Portland no better and greatly discouraged. It had come to a time when I felt that nothing material could give me any lasting relief from suffering. I had heard of Christian Science, and as a last hope I turned to it. The help came quickly, for after the first treatment I felt relief that I had not had before, and at the end of two weeks I discontinued treatment and knew that I was pefectly healed.
It is about two years since my healing and there has not been a sign of any return of the disease. I have also returned to my old home in Boise and now live here with not the slightest bad effect from the climate,—a thing that my physicians said I could not do. After my return to Boise, my husband met a physician from whom I had taken treatment for a year and a half. He asked how I was and my husband told him that I was now perfectly well and had been healed by Christian Science. His answer was, "I am glad to hear it; that was more than I could have done." I met the druggist who had put up my prescriptions and he expressed surprise at my changed appearance and said there must be something in Christian Science, as he had never expected to see me alive again. The druggist, as well as my physicians, treated me with great kindness and sympathy, and I shall always feel grateful to them for their kind efforts in my behalf.
Through Christian Science I know that I have found the great Physician, and my prayer is that all who suffer may be led, as I have been, to the Christ-truth that not only saves the sinner but heals the sick.
