With a grateful heart, I gladly add my mite of testimony...

With a grateful heart, I gladly add my mite of testimony to the many that are constantly appearing in the Sentinel, bringing hope, health, and happiness to so many despairing ones.

When I was an infant, Egyptian ophthalmia made its appearance. Caustic was used to burn the ulcers off my eyes, which caused the most agonizing suffering, and other drugs administered made even the light unendurable. The fear of blindness was constatly held over me, but after a year of the best care, I slowly regained the use of my eyes, although I was left with very poor sight.

My last years in school brought the seemingly inevitable glasses, which proved of little avail, for soon after, my sight began to fail steadily. Another oculist then examined my eyes most carefully, and said I had an absolutely incurable complication of diseases, among which he mentioned hypermetropia (far sight), etc., prostration of the nerves, and a large scar over the center of vision of one eye. He gave me peculiarly ground glasses, which he thought might relieve the constant pain, but said there was no cure for me. With the thought of blindness constantly before me, with rapidly failing sight, and in utter despair, I turned to Christian Science, though with no faith, only a hope that I could be helped. I was healed instantaneously, although I continued treatment for ten days. This was almost five years ago, and I have had no trouble with my eyes since the happy day I turned to God, the "ever-present help," as revealed in Christian Science. I am most grateful to my helper and teacher for her loving guidance of my early steps.
