Dayton (O.) Herald
To the Christian Scientist, prayer means more than a formulated statement of words. It is nothing short of living an exemplary Christian life. It is honesty (including the payment of all just debts), truthfulness, and uprightness, and he who lives such a life cannot help making progress into things better, more spiritual. Hence it is but perfectly natural to expect to progress with such a practical sense of prayer. There can be nothing inconsistent in this.
Prayer, as understood by the Christian Scientist, is entirely free from mysticism and occultism, neither do they believe that the healing work accomplished is supernatural, but instead divinely natural.
As we more clearly understand God, infinite good, and the relation we hold to Him, we will see that it is perfectly natural for health to be restored through the application of truth which corrects the cause of the trouble in the mental realm.
