"According as we Love"

There are thousands whose hearts are grateful for Christian Science. I wonder if any are more filled with gratitude than are we, for much has been forgiven, much made clear. About five years ago when walking one day with a sister Scientist whose seeming burdens were heavy, she made the statement, "According as we love, are we liberated."

To sense, our own burdens were heavy,—a life-work confiscated and a heavy debt laid upon us by the perfidy of a business associate, and much bitterness was to be met, not only from the thought of being wronged, but, because unable to meet our own obligations, we were called dishonest.

The friend's clouds seemed even heavier than ours, and because of this her statement impressed me, and daily has it helped to uplift us. Science was then new to us, we were just beginning to understand. We had been crushed into it by sorrow and trouble, yet, thanks to God, through faithfulness to Christian Science and its wonderful teaching, we are free, every dollar is paid, health is established on God's sure law, and we have fearlessness to go forth to the battle, that neither youth nor untried courage could know.

The dear sister is also liberated, has advanced from gloom and loneliness into light and love,—the reflection of good deeds daily done in love to others. In healing others, she herself was healed. Is it worth while to cherish any ill will when liberty and light come by loving, by forgetting all discord? With many others, we add our thanksgiving to our loving Leader, who has shown us how to apply the teachings of our Master. Please God, may we never cease to use them, but daily prove by a life reflecting the "liberty of the children of God," that "according as we love, are we liberated."
